Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance Announce ‘Waiting4U’ Tour

Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance Tour

Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance are touring together starting this April!

Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson are joining forces for a co-headlining tour this spring, the teen stars revealed Thursday night (Mar. 10) during a live chat with fans, and Billboard.com can now share the details of the joint trek.

Dubbed the Waiting4U tour — a play on Chance’s debut single, “Waiting Outside the Lines,” and Simpson’s new EP, “4U” — the YouTube phenom and Australian pop star’s tour kicks off Apr. 11 in Denver, Col. and will hit 24 cities before wrapping up May 18 in Portland, Ore.

Chance tells Billboard.com that teaming up with Simpson was a natural fit, especially after the two singers got a great response at a Feb. 26 joint show in Los Angeles. “Me and Cody, we relate to each other,” says Chance. “We’re both around the same age, and we’re both somewhat doing the same thing, but I think what’s great about this tour is it’s going to be showing two sides of pop music. I’m more of a pop-rock style, and Cody is more dance-pop. So it’s going to be cool for the fans to see the differences in the ways that we relate, and how pop music can be very transversal. I think it’s going to be an amazing tour.”

Chance adds that in addition to playing material from his own EP, he’ll also perform “some unreleased music” from his forthcoming debut album, “so fans are going to get a new look at the record…it’s pretty dramatic and theatrical, but I’m writing a lot of it, so it’s very true and passionate for me,” Chance says of the album, which was inspired by Journey. “I’m in L.A. right now and they’ve got me working like a dog. I’m in the studio every day. I like to stay busy.”

Of the screaming girls that will no doubt be lining up to see him and Simpson soon, the 13-year-old says, “I hope they’re pounding on our bus by the end of the tour! The fans are just so incredible. [Cody and I] just love them so much, and they’re the reason why we’re here.”

“The upcoming tour with Greyson Chance is going to be a blast!” chimes in Simpson via a statement. “I’m so hyped to travel around the US and visit different cities…I can’t wait 4 U to see it, and can’t wait to see everybody!”

The 14-year-old musician caught up with M mag about his new record, saying that he wasn’t really nervous about having fans hear new material from him. Cody shared, “I’m not nervous at all. I’m so excited for my fans to be able to hear some new music. There are five tracks on it. Well, the EP is called, 4 U and there are five tracks on it, including ‘iYiYi.’ I’m so excited to be able to share some new music with everybody.”

Cody added, about the most personal song, “The most personal song is probably ‘Don’t Cry Your Heart Out.’ It’s about a girl that is being treated badly by another guy or something, and then you’re kind of saying don’t cry your heart out because I’m here for you.”
